Biorenewable Insights: Polyamides (2017 Program)

The purpose of this report is to analyze technology developments that lead to the bio-based monomer production used in the manufacture of polyamides.  Bio-renewable sources such as castor oil, palm kernel oil, starch, sugar, and tallow are currently being developed for the production of bio-monomers.  The purpose of this study is to assess the technical, commercial, and economic aspects of producing several bio-monomers.

Biorenewable Insights: Lignin (2017 Program)

The purpose of this report is to analyze developments in lignin based-chemical technology. Lignin derived from biomass can be converted into a number of chemical products, most notably carbon fiber and phenolic resins—with potential to improve the GHG footprint.  The purpose of this study is to assess the technical, commercial, and economic aspects of producing lignin-based products.

China’s Refining Industry - The Transforming Giant

This report examines the environment in which China's refining industry operates, including the key economic and market drivers spurring shifts in refined product demand, and presents projections of potential product demand trends to 2030. In addition, the historical and projected development of refining capacity and output in the country is addressed, alongside implications for China's net trade position for the key refined products. Finally, analysis is presented of the independent and state-owned refining sectors, the competitiveness of Chinese refineries, and the issue of integration between refineries and petrochemical production.
