Chlor-Alkali (2026 Program)

This report provides an analysis of the technologies, economics and markets producing chlorine and sodium hydroxide (or caustic soda) from chlor-alkali electrolyzers. Commercial and developing process technologies are discussed. Cost of production estimates and carbon intensity analyses have been developed to illustrate the cost competitiveness and carbon footprint of chlor-alkali production in the United States, Western Europe, India and China.
